Panasonic has added the 12.1-megapixel Lumix DMC-ZS5 and ZS7 consumer cameras to its ZS super-zoom series, and the Lumix DMC-TS2 and DMC-ZR3 to its outdoor line.

The ZS5 has a 25mm ultra-wide-angle Leica lens; 12x optical zoom, which is operable even in video mode; and intelligent resolution, which analyzes outlines, textured areas and gradation to get the most accurate exposure. The ZS7 possesses additional features, such as Sonic Speed autofocus — allowing for 0.006-second shutter release lag time — and built-in GPS tracking functions.

Waterproof as well as dust and sand resistant, the Lumix DMC-TS2 has HD video capability, Sonic Speed AF, 14.1-megapixel resolution and a 28mm wide-angle Leica DC Vario Elmar lens that extends to 4.6x optical zoom. The Lumix DMC-ZR3 has a 25mm ultra-wide-angle Leica lens and 8x optical zoom.

Retail prices have yet to be announced, but are expected to be in the $400 range.
