Fujifilm has introduced the FinePix S8000fd to the market. The SLR-styled digital camera uses wide-angle, long-zoom technology, with 8-megapixel resolution. For user flexibility and control, the S8000fd comes equipped with Fujinon's 18X wide-angle optical zoom lens, with a 27mm-486mm equivalency. To prevent dust contamination, the fixed lens is a sealed system.

The camera has the capability of achieving ISO 3200 and ISO 6400 at 50 percent resolution and features a full-resolution ISO equivalency of ISO 1600. To reduce blurring caused by camera shake, the S8000sf has high light sensitivities allowing for faster shutter speeds.

Fuji's Dual Image Stabilization minimizes camera shake, while the camera also has Face Detection Technology that allows it to identify up to 10 faces per framed image and automatic red-eye removal mode. Manual adjustment options, such as resolution, ISO, aperture and shutter speed, provide greater creative control.

The S8000fd has an added feature of Movie mode, capturing VGA-quality clips in 640 x 480 resolutions at 30 frames per second. The built-in high-speed continuous shooting mode lets the camera capture up to 15 frames per second at 2-megapixel resolutions. Photos can be viewed on the 2.5-inch LCD monitor with 230,000 pixels of resolution and a 60-frame-per-second refresh rate. If users prefer not to frame their shots with the LCD screen, they have the option of using an electronic viewfinder.

The camera also has a new single-media slot that accepts Fujifilm's traditional xD-Picture Cards, SD and SD-High Capacity cards.

The S8000fd sells for an estimated $399.
