Pentax has announced the release of two new digital SLR cameras, the K20D and the K200D. Both cameras feature dustproof and weather-resistant bodies, improved Prime image processors and Pentax's Shake Reduction technology that works with any Pentax lens.

The flagship K20D is a 14.6-megapixel DSLR that builds on the K10D model. It features a newly developed CMOS image sensor, an Expanded Dynamic Range function to allow for more contrast, a Live View on a 2.7-inch display and a PC-sync socket for studio lighting.

The 10.2-megapixel K200D contains similar technologies but is designed for users who may be unfamiliar with digital SLR photography. Auto Picture and Scene modes and Custom Image functions allow users to use preset options, then move on to advanced features such as the Sv mode.

Five new lenses have also been developed for use on Pentax digital SLRs. The Pentax K20D body-only kit will be available in April for $1,299. The K200D with a Pentax DA 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AL II lens is $799.
