Sony has introduced the DSC-HX1, the first Cyber-Shot camera that can take 224-degree panorama shots and has 1/2.4-inch Exmore CMOS sensor technology.

Using wide and ultra-wide lens settings, the HX1 can take up to 224-degree horizontal or 154-degree vertical shots at a 7,152 x 1,080p resolution.

With the Exmor technology, the HX1 can take shots at 10 frames per second (fps) with 9.1-megapixel resolution. When this CMOS sensor is used in handheld twilight and anti-motion blur mode, the camera takes six shots within a second and then superimposes the shots into one clear image.

The HX1 is also the first Cyber-Shot to include HD movie clip recording. Video clips are recorded at 1,080p/30 frames per second resolution and are compatible up to 20x optical zoom range.

Using a Sony G 28-560mm f/2.8-5.2 wide-angle lens with 20x telephoto range, the HX1 has been optimized to cover telephoto and wide-angle needs. Images can be further adjusted with the six-blade aperture system.

Intelligent Auto Modes on the HX1 include Intelligent Scene Recognition, Optical SteadyShot and Face Detection technologies. The HX1 also uses Smile Shutter technology to automatically detect and capture photos upon smile recognition.

The Cyber-shot DSC-HX1 camera has an estimated price of $500.
