Canon's new HV20 HD camcorder includes a 10X HD video zoom lens with super range optical image stabilization (OIS) and a Canon True HD 1,920 x 1,080 CMOS image sensor. With the additional 24p Cinema Mode, videos achieve a high-quality cinematic look and can be viewed on the 2.7-inch wide-screen LCD display. The HV20's horizontal design allows for creative control.

Another feature is the advanced accessory shoe, which can accommodate additional components, such as select external video lights or directional microphones. The camcorder has microphone and headphone input terminals with manual level control and an HDMI terminal for quick, one-cable transport of the HD video signal to an HDTV.

Designed by Canon for the EOS line of digital SLR cameras, the camcorder has a 2.96-megapixel CMOS image sensor. The sensor features on-chip noise reduction technology, ensuring that signals from each pixel are as pure as possible. It also comes with Canon's autofocus system and the lens shift OIS, which compensates for camera shake.

Using the DIGIC DV II technology, Canon designed this camcorder to achieve high-level quality film. The HV20's cine setting helps change color and tonal characteristics to achieve a movie-theater feel. No matter what the distance, the zoom speed control helps the zoom remain smooth and constant.

Canon's HV20 HD camcorder sells for $1,099.
