Canon has announced the release of three high-definition camcorders: the Vixia HF11 Dual Flash Memory Camcorder, and the Vixia HG21 and HG20 Hard Disk Drive camcorders.

Each new camcorder offers 24MB-per-second recording, the highest possible bit rate in the AVCHD format. This speed gives consumers enhanced detail, finer tonal gradation and improved reproduction of moving subjects.

The Vixia HF11 Dual Flash Memory Camcorder can record up to 12 hours of high-definition (HD) video to a 32GB internal Flash drive. The Vixia HG21 and HG20 camcorders feature 120GB and 60GB hard-disk drives for recording up to 22 or 45 hours of HD video, respectively. All three also offer the ability to record directly to an SDHC card.

The Vixia camcorders feature a genuine Canon HD Video Lens, Canon's HD CMOS image sensor for full HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) image capture; the DIGIC DV II image processor; and Instant Autofocus and SuperRange optical image stabilization. All models also come bundled with Pixela ImageMixer 3SE video editing software, which supports Blu-Ray disk burning.

The Vixia HF11 Dual Flash Memory Camcorder, and Vixia HG21 and HG20 Hard Disk Drive camcorders, have a suggested selling price of $1,199, $1,299 and $949, respectively.
