Casio has unveiled five new Exilim models, one featuring high-speed shooting and four others with improved design quality and functionality.

The 6-megapixel, 12x optical zoom Exilim Pro EX-F1 features a high-speed CMOS sensor and LSI processor to achieve up to a 60-frame-per-second burst rate for still images and a 1,200-frame-per-second rate for movie recording. The Pro EX-F1 also records movies in high definition.

Canon has unveiled the new headliner for its entry-level series of digital SLRs. The 12.2-megapixel EOS Rebel XSi features several higher-end functions, including Live View, that debuted on the EOS-1DS Mark III professional SLR. Seattle-based photojournalist Tim Matsui and the FEAR (Friends Educating Against Rape) Project have been awarded a $22,300 Project Distribution Grant by the Open Society Institute of New York.

The grant will allow Matsui and FEAR to present to schools, community organizations and professional groups in the greater Seattle area. FEAR aims to combat sexual violence through the use of personal narrative and multimedia presentations.

Sony has introduced five new high-definition (HD) camcorder models based on AVCHD technology and featuring 1,920 x 1,080 high-definition recording.
