Photo Merchandising Revenues Expected to Rise

Comments

A recent study has found that printing of digital photos and merchandise will be a key revenue generator for those in the photography business for the next five years.

The “U.S. Consumer Photo Merchandise Forecast for 2010-2015,” prepared by InfoTrends, predicted that the photo merchandise market will see considerable growth, reaching $2.2 billion in revenue by 2014. These profits, the report said, will come from items such as photo books, cards and calendars, as well as enlargements, posters and canvas prints.

InfoTrends reports, however, that there is still a large number of untapped photo-merchandise consumers, and reaching new buyers is key to this projected growth. According to the Photo Marketing Association, American photo consumers are expected to make 13.9 billion digital prints, and digital cameras are expected to reach 81 percent of U.S. households, by the end of 2010.
