PPW Awards Honors Susan Marsidi, Kevin Swett, Judy Horn

The 2003 Professional Photographer of Washington Awards were handed out earlier this year in Yakima, Wash. Overall awards were given in four categories: Susan Marsidi won the Russ Clift Trophy for Diversified Aggregate and the Lee Merrill Trophy -- PPW People's Choice for her "Bridge to Paradise"; Kevin Swett took the Alma Grey Trophy for First-Time Entry Highest Aggregate; and Best of Show -- Jurors' Choice went to Judy Horn's "Winter Flight."

Seattle SPJ Chapter Honors Writer Beth Luce

The Seattle chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists honored freelance writer Beth Luce at an awards ceremony earlier this year. Luce, who contributes regularly to PhotoMedia was awarded third place for her story on PhotoMedia's Photography Person of the Year, "Gary Braasch: Thinking Globally" (Spring 2002). Other recent credits include two cover stories for Seattle magazine and articles for several regional magazines and university magazines across the country.

Jeff Wall Receives Hasselblad International Award

Canadian photographer Jeff Wall of Vancouver, B.C., was selected as the winner of the 2002 Hasselblad Foundation International Award in Photography. In conjunction with the award, presented late last year in Göteborg, Sweden, Wall’s photographs were displayed for two months at the Hasselblad Center in the Göteborg Art Gallery.

Robert Glenn Ketchum Receives Aperture Lifetime Achievement Award

Earlier this year, Aperture Foundation bestowed its Lifetime Achievement Award in Photography and Conservation upon Robert Glenn Ketchum (robertglennketchum.com). Erwin and Peggy Bauer Receive NANPA Lifetime Achievement Award; Tom Mangelsen Named Photographer of the Year

The North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA) has announced the winners of its prestigious awards for 2000. The Lifetime Achievement Award goes to Erwin and Peggy Bauer of Sequim, Washington, while Thomas Mangelsen of Jackson Hole, Wyoming has been named Outstanding Nature Photographer of the Year.

The awards will be presented at the Annual Summit in Austin, Texas, January 12-16, 2000.
